Description / Synopsis
Qin Huilong is a self-taught artist known for his detail-oriented traditional realistic Chinese brush paintings and bolder free-hand brushwork pieces. Originally from Han Cheng in the Northeast Shaanxi province, his works, based on memories of his own experiences, depict the local customs of Northeast China, in particular, the Yellow Earth Plateau. A blend of traditional, folk, and contemporary painting techniques are visible in Huilong’s works including “Entertainment in Chang ‘an of the Tang Dynasty”, and the figures in his work are represented with vitality. In addition to being an artist, Huilong is a writer, calligrapher, and musician. He incorporates his interest in music and history into his paintings, working to produce accurate renderings of the clothing, objects, and customs he portrays. |
