Description / Synopsis
Richard Rondow was a mouth artist producing drawings and paintings from his home in Saanich B.C. Rondow’s work includes autobiographical themes related to physical ability and body image (Rondow was quadriplegic), and wry humour conveyed through the use of bold lines and shapes and primary colours. His status as a practicing artist with no formal training, working outside of the mainstream art scene, makes his work a candidate to be viewed as “outsider art” – art motivated by creativity, without being driven by a need for acceptance in, or accolades from, the traditional art world. |
