Born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1955, Marlene Davis attended the Victoria College of Art and the University of Victoria. In 1987 Davis was awarded the Province of British Columbia Scholarship Grant in 1987, followed by an honourable mention in 1989. Davis has exhibited independently and in group shows at galleries including the Fran Willis Gallery, University of Victoria Legacy Art Gallery, Richmond Art Gallery, Gallery Opus 2 Inc, and the Boehme Gallery XV111. Her work is featured in numerous collections including the University of Victoria, Grant McEwan College, and the Provincial Art Collection of British Columbia. Davis is an animal lover and advocate, and received the 2007 Canadian Veterinary Medical Association’s Humane Award for her contributions to animal welfare. Many of Davis’s painted works feature animal imagery.
