Born in Canada, Karen Ostrom is a Brooklyn-based artist who works with photography, animation, video, and installation. She received her BFA from the University of Victoria in 1991, and her MFA from Hunter College in New York. She is the recipient of numerous awards including Canada Council for the Arts Research and Creation Grants, MacDowell Colony Artist Fellowships, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, the Duke and Duchess of York Prize in Photography from the Canada Council, and Residency Fellowships with Instituto Sacatar (Brazil).
