Henry Tsang received a BFA at the University of British Columbia (1982-1986) and MFA at the University of California, Irvine (2001-2003). He has undertaken additional professional arts development at Harvard University, Emily Carr College of Art and Design, Simon Fraser University, and Columbia University’s Photography Institute. Tsang’s practice includes digital media, photography, and video, as well as incorporates language and sculptural elements into his works. Tsang’s work strongly engages with themes of community, culture, and identity through the global and local movement of people, culture, and capital. Tsang has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions internationally. He is the recipient of grants and awards including an Award for Artistic Excellence the Tacoma Art Museum’s 10th Northwest Biennial, a Canada Innovation Fund through the Department of Canadian Heritage, a Social Sciences Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Research/Creation Grant as Principal Investigator; and well as numerous Canada Council for the Arts grants. Tsang is an Associate Professor in the faculty of Culture and Community at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada.
