Jane Martin was born in Montreal, received her BA (Hons) at Bishop University in 1965, and her MA at Carleton University in 1966. Martin has worked extensively as a painter, printmaker, and photographer representing images of the body and exploring issues of female embodiment, sexuality, and illness. Her work has been shown in group and solo shows across Canada, and is found in private collections including the Canada Council Art Bank, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Gerry and Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre, National Library, and the Department of External Affairs.
