Laurie Rolland graduated from Sheridan College School of Crafts and Design (Mississauga, Ontario) with honours. She is a professional potter and instructor, and has been active in the arts community as an instructor, artist in residence (Medalta International Artists-In-Residence Program for the Ceramic Arts, Medicine Hat, Alberta, 2001), and potter’s guild and art council juror. Rolland’s art has been recognized on a national through the awarding of various Canada Council Crafts Creation and Travel grants, and as demonstrated by her election to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2004. Rolland’s work is featured in galleries internationally, including the World Ceramic Exposition Foundation Collection, Icheon, S.Korea; Geil Kiln Company Ceramic Collection, Gardena, California, USA; the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade’s Fine Art Collection, Canadian High Commissioner’s Residences in London, England and Rome, Italy; and the Indusmin Ceramics Collection (Canadian Clay and Glass Museum), Waterloo, Ontario. It is also available for sale in galleries in BC and Ontario, as well as by appointment at her Sechelt, BC artist studio.
